File inspection

As soon as the investigations are completed, the accused person can inspect the files. This means going to the relevant authority and looking at all the documents that are available about the case: Statements of police officers, interrogation protocols, lists of seizures, etc. These are copied there or you can photograph them, sometimes you have to copy the information by hand.

Only someone who knows what exactly is against him or her can consider whether to file an appeal against a summary penalty order - or whether it is better to accept the punishment. These files can also be passed on to other authorities (e.g. road traffic office). In this way, various authorities then possess these files - only the persons concerned do not automatically receive them. It is really useful to know which files exist about you.
