Information from Association Legalize it! (September 2026)

Hello {name}

Hemp Policy

The Cannabis Products Act (CanPG) is still under review. We won’t know any more details until the end of the year or early 2027. After that, the Federal Council will still need to weigh in on the matter. Following that, the parliamentary process could begin (National Council and Council of States, and almost certainly a referendum). It’s conceivable that the law could take effect in the early 2030s. Even in the best-case scenario, the process will still take longer.

We have largely worked out our interim solutions. On the one hand, a follow-up solution to the existing pilot projects, so that participants do not return to the black market once the projects end. On the other hand, a transitional solution that would be heavily based on the pilot projects but would no longer be scientific research – rather, it would be a harm-reduction project. This would require only a minor legislative amendment, and the regulations could also be largely adopted from the pilot projects.

If you're interested in this topic, we'd be happy to send you some materials. It's not overly complicated, but you should be familiar with the basics of our legal system (the Constitution, laws, and regulations) and be willing to learn the rules that apply to the pilot projects. Sven is available to discuss this with you or meet with you.

Fall Break

We have fall break from October 5 through 23, but the office will remain open on Fridays.

Starting October 26, you can reach us again as usual at 079 581 90 44: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays in the afternoon; other times by appointment.

Here are our web updates from the last few weeks:

21.09.2026 – Documents on criminal prosecution

Hemp containing 1% THC or more is still considered an illegal narcotic. Consequently, many criminal prosecutions are taking place. We have compiled an initial batch of documents related to the 2026 hemp repression: Our legal counseling service has received several cases, particularly involving THC and driving. Here, the prosecution remains unbroken (and the burden on those affected is very heavy), while prosecutions for consumption and preparatory acts in general continue to decline.

If you also have documents related to repression, we would be very interested in copies and case histories. After all, the law and regulations are one thing. The other, more decisive factor is how they are enforced by the cantonal prosecutors’ offices and police departments. This becomes clear only through such documents. Here you will find additional documents like these from other years.

15.09.2026 – Herba di Berna and Legalize it!

Our corporate member, Herba di Berna, published an article today about our work and invited readers to become members.

In return, we’ve posted the article about their work: “Hemp Needs a Stance: Why We Want to Give the Plant Back Its Place in Society.”

Quote: “Because our true goal goes far beyond the sale of hemp products: We want to restore the cultural and agricultural plant cannabis to the place in society that it deserves.” Yes, we agree with that and recommend reading the entire article and, if you’re looking for legal hemp products, checking out their shop.

We’ll make the complete magazine available as a PDF starting in December.

Legalize it! Issue No. 110 from Summer 2026 is online We've also published another issue of our magazine Legalize it! as PDF. 01.09.2026 – Would you like to join us?

There are some areas where we’re looking for people who are interested, have the time, and are capable. Your commitment doesn’t have to amount to many hours a week. But for most of these roles, it’s important that you can stick with it long-term. If you’re interested, feel free to get in touch, and we’ll explore the possibilities together!

Submit information: whether on paper, as a PDF, or even as links to interesting websites about hemp.

Proofreading English translations: This requires excellent language skills and a willingness to proofread legal texts as well.

Involvement in the political group: reading, understanding, and analyzing arguments, and possibly advocating for the cause (for example, through presentations).

Showing your face in videos about cannabis use: Here, we want to demonstrate that it occurs throughout society.

Social Media Management: This poses a particular challenge when it comes to cannabis (keywords: shadow ban, algorithmic suppression).

Even more convenient: Pay your membership dues via standing order. Want to support us without having to pay each invoice yourself? Set up a one-time standing order in your online banking to our association’s account – then your dues will be paid automatically and on time. This saves you the hassle. Of course, you can still conveniently pay your membership fee via QR invoice. You can find all account details here.

We wish you a colorful fall!

Hempy Greetings

Fabian, Markus, Michael, and Sven
